Christmas Eve Traditions

Since I was a child we have always had some special Christmas Eve Traditions. Thankfully I have been able to keep these alive even after I have left home.

Christmas Eve is one of my favourite times of the festive period. It’s when the stress in finished and the magic is starting to make an appearance. There are a few tasks that allow me to get into the Christmas groove and feel ready for Christmas morning.

The first might seem a bit strange but I have to change my bedding. I love to go to sleep in clean bedding the night before so I wake up refreshed and ready to enjoy the day.

Secondly, we have always baked on Christmas Eve. It can be anything but the smell helps me get into the festive mood and makes me homely. This year will be cookies and I will make sure to put photos on my Instagram! (Feel free to give me a follow)

Next I watch a Christmas film (you can see my favourites here!) and drink a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream. It’s indulgent but it’s the moment where I truly relax and feel prepared for Christmas Day.

Finally, this is the big one and this is where I open my Christmas Eve box. I have been having one of these since I was small and my mum has carried this through into my adulthood. I can’t tell you what it will contain because it changes every year. It will always include a new pair of pyjamas (hence the new bedding!) to go to sleep in that night. In the past, the box has had games, drinks, toys and chocolate in but no matter what it has always been special to me. These are a such a good idea for loved ones and I know a few of my friends have started this with their children and it’s so sweet.

I hope you guys have enjoyed reading about my Christmas Eve Traditions. I would love to know if you share any of them or if you have some of your own. Please leave me a comment below and start the conversations.

This will be last post until after Christmas but I will be active over on my Instagram over the next few days. I hope you guys have the most amazing day and enjoy this time with your families.
