To start things off, I’m not going to lie I am normally someone who likes to stick with brands I know when it comes to make up and skin care. I can be a bit scared to try a new style or products as I have temperamental skin and can be prone to reaction, but saying that, I have decided to take the plunge and try something new. As always with the reviews that I do I will go through each part that i think deserves a mention and then give you an overall view at the end. I have been seeing the I Heart Revolution eyeshadow palettes for ages, all over my Instagram feed and they have always looked so pretty and effective, so this week I decided to make my first ever purchase from the brand. I decided to go for one of their newer items and for something that I knew I would be able to get a lot of wear out of as I don’t like to waste money on products I wont use. In the end I went for…(drumroll please)…the Cherry Chocolate Palette.
My first impression when I first saw the product was that the packaging is beyond beautiful. The melted chocolate effect on the case and the smell when you first open up the case it just amazing, like I could actually eat the whole thing. The colours of the outer box were pretty and really made an impression, its so bright I don’t think I will ever be able to misplace it and the cardboard box was matching and allowed you to see the design, which was quite effective. The only thing I would say was a disappointment in this are would be the size of the main box that it was delivered in. I felt that it was a bit over the top and could have been smaller and easier to dispose of, but it was recyclable so that was a redeeming feature.
I would normally go for a palette that is more natural in colour and for day to day in work these colours and swatches are suitable but I have found at a weekend I want something brighter and more out there so that when I go out with friends I can experiment a bit more. The Cherry Chocolate is the perfect go between for day and night, they shades like All Gone, Pair and Bakewell are great to match with my workwear and shades like Jubilee and Maraschino that are great for an night out.
I may have mentioned in previous posts that when I try a new product I will always try them at a weekend so that if I do have an adverse reaction I can get it sorted before the work week begins. I tested the shades out on my arms first and then used the favourites on my eyes for the day and so far I have had no problems which would mean that these should be fine for those of you with sensitive skin to use. The colours are beyond beautiful and so bright on my face, they are so smooth and easy to blend with each other to get the smoky effect and bring out the features you want showcased. They don’t feel grainy and heavy on my eyes, which is a key thing for me as I tend to wear the same make up for a day and I don’t want my eyes to feel dry and itchy half way through the days tasks. Furthermore, the colours lasted really well, I sometimes find that they can fade throughout the day when I walking from place to place out in the elements but these have stayed put and stayed bright despite the ongoing movement.
Overall, I have to say that this is a brand I fully intend to purchase more products from and I am already looking at what other palettes they have coming out soon. I think the next one I’m leaning towards is the s’mores eyeshadow palettes or potentially a Unicorn Highlighter. I also love that these products are completely cruelty free and incorporate people from all walks of life. Their products seem to be quite high quality without the high price tag. This palette was £8.99 directly from their website.
I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you have made it to the end please leave a heart in the comments and let me know your thoughts.
