I recently saw a YouTube video by Josie aka Fashion Mumblr (if you aren’t watching her channel then you are missing out) where she was trying out the new Find. Beauty range from Amazon and I have to admit it did look quite lovely. I decided to give the collection a go and let you guys know what I thought.
I decided to play it safe or the first order and went with something that I knew I would be able to wear, because if you have been reading my blogs previously you will know that I have quite sensitive skin. I went for the lip duo in shade ‘Sparkle Secret’ which included to the lipstick in shade no.01 and lipgloss in shade no.07. From what I can gather you are supposed to put the lipstick on first and then follow it with the gloss to give the dewy and glowing look.
I thought I would start with the packaging because I don’t know about anyone else but if a brand hasn’t tried very hard with their packaging then it can put me right off the product. I thought it was really great that Amazon didn’t not over package these products because we all need to consider the environment and how much packaging we are disposing off everyday. So it was really good when the products arrived in just a small silver bubble envelope. When I first pulled the products out I was surprised as the design is quite chic, its a basic black design with a white brush stroke across the lid to give it a bit of an edge and add in a bit of something to make it pop. Looking good so far Amazon!
Upon applying for the first time I was pleasantly surprised, the colour was very pigmented, felt smooth on the lip and it had an almost velvety consistency to it. The lipstick is matt colour and for me that was perfect because I have never really been a fan of glossy lipsticks as I find they can be too in your face. I followed it with the gloss, which I was a bit dubious about as I have found that glosses I have used in the passed have tended to remain sticky and difficult to wear. However, a few second after putting it on, I found it was dry and just left the colour in place to create a gorgeous glitter overlay to give it a bit of a sparkle. I would potentially not apply the glitter during the day as work may find it a bit over the top but it does allow the colour to go from day to night with minimal effort.
I decided to have the first application during a day at work where I was going to be on the go a lot and spending a lot of time in meetings as I thought this would be the best test of the colours staying power. Once again, I was not disappointed, the colour stayed put throughout the day and my lips did not feel like they were drying out which I find can happen a lot with he matte lip colours. The only flaw was that the glitter did wear off and I did need to reapply the gloss after a drink or a meal but in the long run I think that is an easy fix with some clear gloss or make up spray over the top.
Overall, it is a brand that I will be purchasing again and I will definitely be trying out some of the facial products to see if they have the same abilities as the lip due. I’m actually thinking that I might go for the contour kit next. The products seem to be well made and have the standards that I would expect from a luxury brand. Amazon you did a good job…well done!
Have you guys tried anything from the Amazon range and if so what did you think? I would love to hear your thoughts below.
